WINNER paragliding photo competition
1st place paragliding photos:: Barry Baxter - Manilla
The photographer's - Barry Baxter from Masterton - comment: "I took the photo lying flat on my back on the west launch Mt Borah in Manilla, Australia, as the competition gaggle got bigger and bigger and slowly drifted overhead. The camera is an Olympus SP500UZ."
A whole bunch of pictures got a similar number of votes, but the winners in the paragliding and kitesurfing category stood out. The results illustrate how different pilots and appreciate different aspects of the sport. That's what I love about it: Whether you are into acro, mountaineering, big jumps kiting, cruising, calm coastal flying or full on competition - everyone finds their own niche. I found that my priorities shifted over the year depending on what else is happening in life: I was competing hard before I had kids, a bit of acro and lots of SIV, cruisy XC when they were little and now I find myself getting keener on competitions again. Kite and fly as it suits you!
