XC course in Bright 2012

This is a very special, annual event: The Wings & Waves Team takes a group of PG 2 pilots to our favourite thermalling place in Australia for a week’s thermalling and XC course.

Bright is a wonderful alpine town in the NE of Victoria and offers great flying sites, a great sceneary, reliable conditions and lots to do when you are not flying. We are going in the middle of February when it is nice and warm and the flying conditions wonderful.

During the course Eva (NZ Champion) will teach you how to thermal, how to handle turbulence, how to use thermals efficiently, how to plan XCs and much more.

This course typically lifts the pilot to the next level of skill; from coastal pilot to confident thermalling and XC pilot. A large number of pilots joins this trip more than once, which is the perfect indicator that it is a great and valuable trip.

Depending on the numbers and hence the accommodation we need, it will cost about $950-$1050. This years course is 1 day longer hence a tad more, but I think that is worth it. Make the most out it once we are there. The price is an indication only until we have numbers confirmed. It includes high quality instructions for the week, both practical and theory, van transport from and to Melbourne Airport, transport during the week and accommodation. You still need to budget for food and drink - since we often cook or have BBQs, that is not very much - Oz membership fee and shared van petrol. The flight to Melbourne is about $450-$600 depending on when you book. We want to take maximum 10 people with us.
