Trip to GIN in Korea
.
Lucky me - I have just been on a (work) trip to Korea to visit the GIN headquarters in Yongin.
This is the second time I have gone to the GIN distributor meeting, where all the GIN worldwide distributors meet to see the new developments by the man himself, give feedback on products and what pilots want and learn lots - first hand - about paragliding products, technology, development.
Gin himself is most likely the all-round most experienced person in the paragliding world. Ever since the very beginning of paragliding, he has been in the industry, flying, competing, coaching teams, initially working for a range of the big manufacturers, until he started his own company. Over many years, a long line of legendary wings have been designed by Gin, under the different brand names of the companies he worked for as a young designer.
Now, at GIN he concentrates on what he does best: Very careful development of high tech paragliders for every class of gliders. He is an absolute perfectionist who puts all his knowledge and experience, heart and time into making perfect products.
He is surrounded by very dedicated and most impressive group of people, who are all in the company with the same passion as Gin.
During our stay, we got to try the new protos of the high end gliders, the Boomerang versions, but also the new simple mountain gliders, the Yaks, saw a huge range of new harnesses, accessories and clothing. Of course, I can't tell you any secret details or show any detailed pictures - TOP SECRET.
But, we will have a lot of new and exciting products available this coming year. We will keep you posted!
I felt like a kid in a lolly shop the entire time: The most
dinner Korean styleknowledgeable people in paragliding around me for a week, trying the latest developments on the market, exchanging ideas with the leading people in the paragliding business around the world. And in addition to this, Gin made a huge effort to show us the best side of his country, with fantastic meals and great evenings. What a treat!!
