Learning Paragliding with Wings & Waves
Like in kite surfing, our paragliding lessons are totally different to large group lessons. While groups of 12-15 people per 1 qualified instructor are common, at Wings & Waves we teach in small groups of maximum 4 beginners per instructor. Small groups ensure intense quality learning in a relaxed but focused environment, ensure instructor attention, lots of flying every day you come out, less waiting or wasting time playing around with small parachutes. On every training day, you get one-on-one time with the chief instructor and you get twice as many flights. Knowing the weather conditions in Auckland so well, we safe you fruitless trips to the site when the weather does not suit. As a result, you progress seamlessly from beginner to competent pilot.
Since we have 4 experienced and fully qualified instructors, we can also split up training groups according to your individual level of skill which means that the more experienced students can train at a greater variety of sites instead of being stuck on the basic beginner slope along with all new students.
Once you get passed your most basic training, you can join our groups of advanced students and pilots, remain under instruction or supervision, but extend your flying experience soon and in a safe environment.
Class room theory lessons are another point of difference for our school. They support the practical part of your learning with solid theory knowledge. While we can teach you a lot of theory on the hill and give you material to read, only classroom lessons ensure you don't miss out on anything essential and have time and opportunity to discuss any questions you have.
