Our courses are different to others; they are intense due to a low instructor to student ratio, the format we teach in, the quality equipment we make available to you and the experience level of the instructors. Instructional tandems with a NZ Champion pilot is included with every beginner course for instance, which is invaluable and accelerates your progress immensely. As long as the weather and your progress allow, you will be flying solo on a modern paraglider on the first day.

By continuously testing and improving our own qualifications and methods, we set standards, both in NZ National and internationally. That applies to the equipment we use and we import, our own skill level as pilots, instructors and manufacturing / repair skill.

A vast variety of equipment is offered worldwide. What's hot, what's not? This is difficult to decide, especially when you are first starting off in a new sport.

We cancel out the guess work and instead check and test fly everything before we import it to New Zealand! Every winter we travel to Europe where we personally visit all those manufacturers who seem to offer good equipment, test-fly it, check the quality, pick those most suitable for our rather special conditions in NZ and negotiate import conditions. Obviously all this is much easier once you are face to face with the person in charge, rather than over the phone. In fact, since we have spent the last 13 European summers in Europe, so many people in the business know us well which makes it easier to talk business.

Wings & Waves is exclusive importer for the top brands in paragliding.

We either produce on our premises or direct import from the manufacturer, everything we offer to you. That means huge saving to you! Since we have been importing and distributing equipment for more than 10 years, we - and you! - enjoy discounts from manufacturers which you can't get anywhere else. In the end of the day, you will end up with much better equipment for the same price or less than lesser gear elsewhere!

Production Loft

Right next to the Bayswater Marina (see address and location) we run a full size sailloft, where we manufacture paragliding equipment for most good NZ paragliding schools, customise equipment for many pilots in NZ and repair whatever a pilot may manage to break.

We are appointed by the NZHGPA and the Auckland Hang Gliding and Paragliding Club to carry out WOF for flying equipment. Besides that we are appointed Service Loft for the most reputable Overseas' Paragliding companies and several manufacturers for flying instruments. How do we have the expertise for all these jobs? What does that mean to you? Well, as much as both PG and kitesurfing equipment needs very little maintanance, unfortunately either of them do occasionally end up a ripped, maybe only by getting too close to a barbwire fence during ground-handling practise. What would otherwise either a write off or a lengthy and costly trip to the manufacturer in Europe, we can expertly fix within days, costing a tiny fraction of the expenses.
