We are taking a break from offering kite surfing lessons for now.

We are the oldest operating kitesurfing school in Auckland (if not in NZ). Reuben was the first kiter I ever saw in Shoal Bay - and I used to live in a house over-looking the bay. That is a long time ago. Read more about our instructors.

Feedback from customers tell us that they learn more in one lesson with Lukas or  Reuben than they learnt in 5 group lessons elsewhere.

is paramount in all our operations and lessons. We make sure that the lesson is conducted in a safe manner and that you learn all the skills to make you a safe and independent kiter.

Wings & Waves is certified by Worksafe NZ.

This season, we chose not to continue with the arduous process of re-certifying through the audit contractors. This process is expensive, lengthy and given our 0% incident rate in the 15 years of certifying, it seems ill-fitting for an Olympic sailing sport. The WorkSafe adventure process was designed to make adventure tourist operations ​in NZ safer, but should never have been applied to kitesurfing as it doesn't even fit their definition of 'adventure activities, where "the participant is deliberately exposed to dangerous terrain or dangerous waters".
