Solid ground handling skills are the foundation of safe flying, glider handling, confidence at launch. Good GH techniques also translate to good glider handling in rough air and help develop awareness of glider dynamics in less than ideal situations.
Auckland has many tight and windy launch sites and situations, sometimes with a bunch of spectators to raise anxiety levels, sometimes obstacles, often strong winds, steep hills or flat tops. Each situation and site requires the pilot to skilfully adjust their inflation and launch technique.
Asymmetric inflations is something we start teaching early at Wings & Waves. Mastering them, takes a lot longer than a PG2 course.
During this 4-5 hour session of our GH Clinique, master-of-ground-handling Joe and Eva will assist you improving your techniques and teach you some new ones. Cobra launches are obviously on the list of skills we teach, as well as using a variety of other techniques and tricks to become skilled and confident at launch and in the air.
Should the weather not suit on the advertised days, we will obviously post-pone.
