This stirrup is designed for GIN Verso 2 and GIN Airlite 2 harnesses. 

It releases the stirrup in case of a reserve deployment.

There have been issues in the past, where a reserve endex up tangled in the stirrup which can prevent a proper reserve deployment or have the pilot hang up-side-down once on the reserve.
